Sotirios Bahtsetzis

Sotirios Bachtsezis is an art curator, essayist, researcher, higher education professor, and consultant in the creative industries. His academic research interests include Installation Art, Curatorial Studies, Socially Engaged Art, Image Theory, Post-Industrial Design, Media Theory, Gender Studies, and Posthuman Studies. He also works as an independent curator. His major group exhibitions include: Treasures of the Pietro Bellasi and Katerina Papageorgiou Bellasi Collection (Volos, 2024), Going Viral (Berlin, 2022), Homemade Exotica (Berlin, 2019), Universitas (within the framework of the Athens Biennale 2017), Roaming Images Routes (within the framework of the Thessaloniki Biennale 2011), Paint-id: Contemporary Painting in Greece (Macedonian Museum of Contemporary Art, 2009), Open Plan (within the framework of the 13th Art Athina, 2007), Drawing Screen (Thessaloniki, 2006), An Outing (Trikala, 2006), and Familistère I (KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, 2002). Bachtsezis is also Research Director of ArtBOX and has worked on a series of projects including LABattoir: Art for Social Change (Municipality of Thessaloniki), Artecitya: Envisioning the City of Tomorrow (Goethe-Institut Thessaloniki), EnterViews on Crisis, and Roaming Images: Crossroads of Greek and Arab Culture Through the Eyes of Contemporary Artists (MMCA). He serves as Artistic Director of the G. & A. Mamidakis Foundation (G&A Mamidakis Art Prize 2024, 2023, 2022, 2019).
